COLUMBUS (WCMH)– The Ohio State University is hoping that giving high school students a chance to be a Buckeye for a day will help them achieve their full potential.
The annual program gives high school students from inner cities and Appalachia, a chance to experience life at Ohio State and maybe a glimpse of the history and tradition of the university.
“If you actually look at those benches right there, you can see seats indented because so many people have sat in it over the years,” said Ohio State Junior Matthew Barnett, a tour guide for one of the groups.
The program isn’t designed to actually recruit the kids to Ohio State but rather encourage them to attend college in general.
“I don’t really know what college is right for me, so I want to go to a big college, small college, medium college. You know, I just want to get a feel for all of them,” said Tommie Wright, a junior at Princeton High school.
