HEATH OH., (WCMH) — The Heath Fire Department says one family dog is dead after a house fire on Saturday morning.
Crews were called to Lancaster Drive for the report of a fire around 8:40am.
The home was engulfed in smoke upon arrival. A Lieutenant with the Heath Fire Department says the fire started in the basement and there is smoke and fire damage throughout the home.
No one was injured in the fire but the family did lose one bulldog. The dog was the mascot for the Heath High School football team.
The Newark Fire Department responded to the scene to provide mutual aid.
