ELK GROVE, CA (WCMH) – Prank calls to three California restaurants Monday led to two of them having to shut down.

KTXL reports someone called a Wendy’s, Five Guys and Panera Bread and asked them to test their fire suppression systems.

The systems are positioned over the cooking equipment in the kitchens and activates when a lever is pulled.

Employees of the Wendy’s and Five Guys pulled the levers, as they were instructed.

The kitchens were covered in the flame retardant chemical and the restaurants had to close. They won’t be able to reopen until their suppression systems are recharged and inspected.

On several occasions, prank callers have convinced fast food restaurant workers to smash windows for fear of a gas leak.

KTXL reported that fire officials are looking for the caller. It is not clear whether charged will be filed if the caller is found.
