DELAWARE, OH (WCMH) — It is day three in the retrial of a chess teacher accused of fondling former students.
Wednesday, F. Leon Wilson and jurors watched video interviews from his two young accusers.
One of the alleged victims jurors heard from is a preschooler, the other is younger than 10-years-old. Both spoke openly to forensic interviewers about how and where they were touched. Both said it was done by their chess teacher.
Both Wilson’s defense attorney and the prosecutor agreed there are some inconsistencies in the youngest girl’s interview.
“Are these inconsistencies because she is distracted during the interview, or because she is four?” said Kerri Wilkinson, a Forensic Interviewer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
The preschooler could not name the chess teacher but described him. An expert testified the older girl was more consistent.
That girl says she was sad because the chess coach got arrested and felt it was her fault. The defense asked about consistencies in her interview.
“She provided a level of detail that made me think something had happened to her,” said Wilkinson.
Delaware County Sheriff Detective Jason Campbell is expected to testify and so is the principal of one of the two schools investigators allege F. Leon Wilson fondled the two girls.
Wilson is charged with three counts of gross sexual imposition for the alleged April 2015 incidents. What others are clicking on:
