CLEVELAND, OH (WCMH) — A city water vehicle in Cleveland was swallowed by a large sinkhole Thursday afternoon.
It happened on East 127th Street between Locke Avenue and Cornado Avenue.
According to WKYC, it happened while water crews were responding to a report of a six-inch water main break.
There was only a small crack in the road when the worker arrived. Shortly after he got out of his van, the street started to collapse.
Cleveland water spokesperson John Goersmeyer told WKYC the worker was trying to reach into the van to get his tools when the van started to sink.
The water department is now assessing the problem. Water is expected to be out in the area until Friday.
