COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A federal grand jury has formally indicted a Columbus man on two counts of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State.

Aaron Travis Daniels, 20, was arrested Monday at John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

Daniels, who is also known as Harun Muhammad and Abu Yusuf, allegedly sent money to an ISIS operative. He also allegedly tried to travel to Libya to join the group.READ MORE: New details emerge about man accused of aiding terrorist organization

According to the Department of Justice, count one of the indictment alleges that Daniels provided material support to a foreign terrorist organization by sending $250 in January 2016 to an ISIS operative.

Count two alleges that Daniels attempted to provide material support and resources (himself) to ISIS. Joint Terrorism Task Force agents arrested Daniels on November 7 as he allegedly attempted to leave Columbus for Libya.

If convicted, Daniels faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each count.
