COLUMBUS (WCMH) –Columbus police say a 12 year old boy carjacked a woman at gunpoint Wednesday in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.
The victim tells NBC4 she was sitting in her car waiting for a friend who was inside the restaurant.
“I’m in the car with the window down and this guy comes up and he tells me to get out of the car and he’s got a gun pointed toward me,” she told NBC4’s Ted Hart.
The woman says when she got out, the boy got in and drove off.
Police spotted the car and tried to stop it but the 12-year-old behind the wheel took off. After a brief car chase, the suspect crashed at Cleveland Ave. and 18th Ave. Police say the boy then tried to run but was quickly apprehended.
He’s charged with aggravated robbery, failure to control, reckless operations, no operations and hit skip.
Because of his age, NBC4 is not naming the suspect.
NBC 4 found that the same 12 year old was arrested in January and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a .22 revolver.
