COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police officers will work with partners until further notice in light of the Baton Rouge shooting that claimed three law enforcement lives.

CPD spokesman, Sergeant Rich Weiner said all single officer cars were called back Sunday and replaced with two officer cars as a precaution. The department will reevaluate the situation on Monday.

The city of Baton Rouge is on high alert after three officers were shot and killed, and three others wounded Sunday morning.

Ohio Governor John Kasich released the following statement via a video on Twitter:

I just spoke to the Ohio Highway Patrol, and told them how much we appreciate their service here at the convention in Cleveland only to be informed of the terrible loss of life of the police officers in Baton Rouge. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families, and let’s be clear these kind of vicious attacks only serve to drive a wedge and destroy the very fabric of our society. But to the families, God bless and thank you.”
