COLUMBUS (WCMH)–The Columbus Division of Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Refugee Road at Eastland Four on Friday evening, according to a press release. The diversion area for the checkpoint will be located at 4141 Refugee Road.
Columbus Police Traffic Bureau Sergeant Michael Smith said the location was selected in honor of fallen Lt. Christopher Claypool, who was killed in the line of duty by an impaired driver in 2001.RELATED: Sobriety checkpoint scheduled on Riverside Drive
Smith said the checkpoint is near the location where Claypool was killed.
