COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A mother shot and killed and Columbus police are searching for the man who pulled the trigger.

It happened inside the woman’s home on NorthCliff Drive in northeast Columbus.

Columbus police identified the victim as 34-year-old Monique Weston. One of her own children called 9-1-1.

“We got a call from a child in the home that heard gunshots,” said Sgt. Dave Sicilian, with the Columbus Homicide Division. “The male suspect fled out through the back door.”

A manhunt is on for suspect, Lenzell Weston, 36, who is wanted for allegedly shooting and killing his wife.

“I’ve seen them and the children go up and down [the street], but you don’t even hear them making noise over there,” said neighbor Bette Coles.

Coles lives one house down from the couple and says this neighborhood is quiet. She says she’s never seen or heard of an incident like this happening before.

Anyone with information about Lenzell Weston is asked to call Columbus Police. (614) 645-4545.
