COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ace of Cups and Rumba Cafe in Columbus have cancelled scheduled shows by Dayton band Good English after the drummer wrote a letter defending a convicted rapist.
Brock Turner, 20, was sentenced to six months in county jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman during a fraternity party at Stanford University in 2015.MORE: Ex-Stanford swimmer’s sexual assault victim reads letter in court
Leslie Rasmussen, who says she is one of Turner’s childhood friends, penned a character statement for use during Turner’s trial. She argues that he Turner is not a rapist and that campus drinking and political correctness are partially to blame for his conviction.
