TERRE HAUTE, IN (WTWO) — An 82-year-old woman is able to use her indoor plumbing again thanks to the kind actions of two police officers.
Officers Jesse Chambers and Devon Huebner saw Opal Biljou walking in the rain last week and learned that her toilet was broken.
“I got a big white thing that I was catching water right there, and flush the stool and did the did the dishes with that water,” said Terre Haute resident, Opal Bilyou.
The officers told her if she bought the parts, they would fix her toilet the next day.
“I feel good that I was able to help her out,” Chambers said.
That next day they returned to find out that Opal had mistakenly purchased the wrong parts.
After using their own money to buy the correct parts, the officers returned to fix Opal’s toilet, and they were also able to help get her water turned back on.
