COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Franklin County Coroner Anahi Ortiz’s office has released a preliminary autopsy on Devin Toles, the burglary suspect who was found dead after an arson fire on the east side of Columbus.

Toles died from inhalation of products of combustion (smoke inhalation) and superficial thermal injuries, Ortiz’s office said.

Police say they responded to the home on Taylor Avenue after a woman was reportedly running around inside the home with a tool bag.

Police say the suspect, identified as Toles, lit a fire in the back of the house and left. As police officers went after her, she ran back into the building.

Toles was found dead in a bathroom of the home.

Police continue to investigate, but said it appears Toles acted alone in the burglary and the arson fires.
