YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (WCMH/WDTN)–After high winds knocked her off of her perch, Jersey Girl is back on top.
The mascot of Young’s Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs fell off the dairy’s sign as high winds moved through the area on April 2.
Owner Dan Young told WDTN the cow comes down from the sign every few years to be repainted and fixed up; he said it was probably about time for it to come down, but he just wasn’t planning on it like this.
While the rest of the farm was quiet Sunday, Young spent the day tending to his broken cow that was missing an ear.
“I’m out here in the parking lot looking for a cow ear,” said Young. “Yeah, no. I’ve not had to look for a cow ear before.”
The 50 pound cow has been sitting atop the Young’s Jersey Dairy sign for more than 40 years, but it was no match for strong wind gusts.
“Some people are saying we’re trying to ‘milk this for what it’s worth,'” laughed Young.
Jersey was also missing a horn, her tail, and one of her legs after the April 2 storm. What others are clicking on:
