MORROW CO., Ohio (WCMH) – Two people are dead after a crash on State Route 229 in Morrow County.
The crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday on S.R. 229 at County Road 221 between Ashley and Marengo.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 48-year-old David L. Rothgeb of Mount Vernon and 25-year-old Karri Shira of Mount Vernon collided head-on after one of the vehicles went left of center. Both vehicles went off the roadway and hit the guardrail. Rothgeb did not have his seat belt on.
Troopers say there were no witnesses to the crash so they are still sorting out what exactly happened. The Patrol says alcohol or drug usage is unknown at this time.
S.R. 229 was closed between US 42 and S.R. 61 while troopers investigated but has since reopened.What others are clicking on:
