The Columbus Division of Police continues to investigate after a student at The Ohio State University reported she was robbed and sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her apartment at University Village.

According to investigators, a woman called around 6am Friday to report that an intruder came into her room and sexually assaulted her inside her off-campus apartment. Officers say it appears that the man may have climbed through the victim’s window. The suspect also stole the woman’s wallet and laptop.

OSU issued a neighborhood safety notice to students after the attack.

Right now, people are showing their support for the woman who was assaulted.

“It’s not your fault,” said Odessa Vanhooser. “It’s the perpetrator’s fault for violating your personal space.”

Authorities are asking everyone to lock their doors and windows and to walk in groups if possible.

Investigators described the suspect as a man who stands between 5-feet, 7-inches and 5-feet, 9-inches tall and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans and was clean-shaven.

Anyone with information about the assault or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Columbus Police Special Victims Bureau at 614-645-4266 with any tips or leads.
