BOSTON, MA (WCMH)– Boston police are investigating and a bus driver is on administrative leave after a video surfaced showing a man clinging to the bus mirror while the vehicle was driving away.
According to WCVB, the man clinging to the mirror was James Burdett, who said he was upset about changes to the bus stops.
Burdett admitted to standing in front of the bus to make the driver let his child off, but he said as soon as the bus began moving, he had no time get out of the way.
“He pressed on the gas again and hit my leg,” Burdett told WCVB. “Then I grabbed on for dear life and he kept going.”
The school district released the following statement in regards to the incident:
The Boston Public Schools does not tolerate any kind of behavior that places people’s lives in danger or compromises pubic safety. Transdev, the contractor that operates all BPS school buses, immediately removed the driver from service and placed him on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
