COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Have people finally caught them all?

We’re not sure, but we do know that fewer people are now playing Pokemon Go.

Data from Axiom Capital Management shows the game’s daily active users have declined more than 33 percent. The hit mobile game of the summer peaked at 45 million active users in the middle of July. Last week, that number was just over 30 million.

The game was a viral sensation that filled news headlines for weeks. The mobile app was blamed for car crashes, an increase in robberies and even the discovery of a dead body. A Denver police department is even under federal investigation after it was caught taking new recruits to play “Pokemon Go” instead of teaching them.

The game also drew ire from religious institutions. Father Rafailo of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro denounced the fictional figures in the “Pokemon Go” reality game as demons hailing an upcoming evil. Rafailo said “Pokemons, or demons, are a quite serious appearance of demonic forces.” He adds that the demonic forces always “precede something more serious.”

Could the drop in users be temporary? Perhaps. The game maker could also add a patch with new features to bring users back again.
