OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC) — Three men in Mississippi have been arrested for breaking into a home and assaulting an old, deaf couple.

The 68-year-old woman was bound with duct tape and the 78-year-old man is suffering from severe head injuries.

Some are questioning if the couple was targeted because they are deaf.

Neighbors say this is the second time in weeks that this home has been broken into.

“It just seems real strange that they hit them twice,” one neighbor said.

Investigators found Charles Gayles, 19, hiding in the attic of the home and the two other suspects were found a few doors down from the crime scene. All three are charged with home invasion, aggravated assault, and attempted murder. Each suspect was given a $1 million bond.

They recovered jewelry, firearms, and other items taken from the home when they arrested the suspects.
