Death certificates released as Pike County investigation continues

Pike County, OH (WCMH) — The death certificates for the victims of the April 22 massacre, in Pike County, are shedding light on how seven members of the Rhoden family and Hannah Gilley were killed.

According to Pike County Coroner David Kessler, six of the seven victims discovered on Union Hill Road were shot several times in the head.


The death certificate for Christopher Rhoden, Sr., however, notes his body was discovered with ‘multiple gunshot wounds to head, torso and extremity.’

Kessler stated Kenneth Rhoden was the only victim shot once, with a wound to the head.

His body was discovered at his home on Left Fork Road.

Ohio Attorney General Mile DeWine is leading the investigation into the murders.

According to a spokesman, DeWine met with members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation to discuss the case on Friday, but details of the meeting were not made public.

So far, no suspects have been named.
