GALENA, OH (WCMH) – A Galena neighborhood is on edge and the Delaware County Sheriff is offering some safety tips after a teenage girl interrupted a burglary.
It happened shortly after 3:00pm on Open Bay Court. Deputies say the teenager was just getting home from work when she found a man in her home. He attempted do grab her and she kicked him and got away.
“This young lady did a terrific job with her response and we’re really proud of her,” says Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin.
He says as the weather warms up folks need to be on alert:
- Lock your doors
- Keep windows closed if you’re not in the room -keep your garage door closed even if you’re home -set your alarm, especially at night -be on alert

Sheriff Martin is asking anyone in the area to review their home security footage between 3 and 4pm Wednesday or just call his office and let a deputy review it.
