SHELBY, NC (WCMH) — Two North Carolina sheriff deputies say they were taunted and then served tainted food when they visited a Zaxby’s fast food restaurant.
According to WSOC-TV, Capt. Joel Shores of the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office posted about the incident on his Facebook page. He claims when two of his deputies entered the Zaxby’s located in Shelby, the employees immediately started taunting them.
A wife of one of the deputies also posted about the incident on social media, according to WBTV-TV, claiming the employees even tainted the officer’s food.
“Then, as they sat down to eat their food, my husband realized [they] had put the hottest sauce possible on [his] wings – to the point where his food wasn’t even fit to eat,” her post reads.
“Years ago, this profession was respected, it was honored. Now to get ridiculed, to be a target, to possibly get shot at, for little pay. What’s the motivation to be a police officer other than do it because your heart’s in it to help the community,” Shores told WBTV.
Zaxby’s later issued a statement to WTVD-TV reading in part:
The Zaxby’s located at 2005 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, N.C. is independently owned and operated by a franchisee. It is our goal to always provide every guest with exceptional service.
Upon notification of this incident we launched an internal investigation with our management team and are working quickly to resolve this issue.”
Capt. Shores then took to social media once more, posting that the restaurant had apologized for the incident.
We are not going to judge an entire franchise based on a couple employees. That is what is happening to us in Law Enforcement and we are above that! Zaxbys can not be judged on a few bad apples. Just pray for our nation.
