COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Cinco de Mayo celebrates victory that no one saw coming, when the Mexican army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Now, you can do your part to celebrate with classic Mexican fare, tradition, and, of course, drinks at a major discount in the Columbus area. We scoured the Internet for deals that will help you honor the holiday from sunrise to sunset.

Breakfast

Get your eggs with a twist this Cinco de Morning. Mad Mex is serving up breakfast burritos, “eggchiladas” and cornbread to start the day of festivities. They’re also hosting a day of games, giveaways, and a chance to win free Mex for a year!

Lunch

Now it’s time for lunch which means celebration: Round 2.

If you like tacos the way most do, and by that we mean all you can eat, you need to stop by the Park Street Cantina. The taco buffet–yes, a buffet–starts at 11 a.m.

City Barbeque is hosting a free TaQo (Yes it’s pronounced like taco which means it totally counts) de Mayo pop-up at Broad and High from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. They’re celebrating a new double smoked brisket TaQo. Local artists performing live Latin music with a jazz/blues twist will hit the pavement as well. Stop by and you’ll get a chance to win free lunch for your whole office. There’s no better way to get in good with the boss.

Dinner

For dinner, we suggest nachos. Nada, located in the Arena District, is offering them for just $10.

El Vaquero is a great destination for some quality cuisine. They have been literally counting down until Cinco De Mayo. They’ll have a DJ, exclusive holiday giveaways, and extended hours on Thursday.

Drinks

On the Border is all set to celebrate in a classic fashion.. with $3 (and up) drinks. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. You must be 21 or older to enjoy the bargain beers and marked down margaritas, of course.

Looking for another drink destination? Senor Tequilas Mexican Restaurant is serving up $8 jumbo Coronaritas, $9 draft beer pitchers, and a whole bucket (5 bottles) for just $13.99.

If these just don’t hit the spot, check out the list of even more ways to bring in the holiday below.
