COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Mental health can be a challenging subject especially when you’re dealing with teenagers. One group hoping to change that is Do if For Daron. An organization created in the memory of Daron Richardson, daughter of former Blue Jacket player Luke Richardson, who died from suicide in 2010.

Daron lived in Columbus while her father was with the Blue Jackets and made lifelong friends on and off the ice playing in the Blue Jackets youth hockey league. Three years ago her former teammates started a tradition in her honor to benefit D.I.F.D called Rivalry Weekend. It was at first a game played between Dublin Coffman and Dublin Jerome that has now expanded to include six schools and six games.

This year’s matchups started with Olentangy and upper Arlington taking to the ice on Saturday. The hockey continues today with

  • 1:30 pm     Dublin Coffman JV vs. Upper Arlington JV @ Ice Haus
  • 5:30pm      Dublin Coffman Varsity vs. Upper Arlington Varsity @ Dublin Chiller
  • 5:00 pm     Dublin Jerome Varsity vs. Thomas Worthington @ Dublin Chiller
  • 7:00 pm     Dublin Jerome JV vs. Dublin Scioto JV @ Dublin Chiller

Jody Shelley and Nick Foligno will be on hand tonight to drop the puck at the two varsity games. If you can’t make it to these events the original rivalry game between Dublin Jerome and Dublin Coffman will take place Wednesday January 13th at 6pm at the Dublin Chiller. All money raised by the Rivalry Weekend will stay local to help teens in Central Ohio.
