Don’t fall for the ‘Ugly List’ scam on Instagram

JACKSON, MS (WJTV) – The Better Business Bureau is warning Instagram users about a scam called the “Ugly List.”

The BBB said users think that a friend tagged them in a photo, but it turns out to be a phishing con.


The user will get a notification about the post. The post is called “Ugly List 2016” and it prompts you to believe that a friend tagged you in it. The BBB said many users think it’s just a prank.

Once you click on it, you will be prompted to enter your username and password before you can see it.

The BBB said the list is fake and was created to steal usernames and passwords. Once scammers have your account information, the usually hack your Instagram and tag your followers in new “Ugly List” posts.
