COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A car chase spanning two central Ohio counties and lasting more than 20 minutes ended in a crash that closed a major highway in Columbus.

Sgt. Roger Cooper from the West Jefferson Patrol Post in Madison County said troopers spotted a vehicle making a speed-related traffic violation on Interstate 70 near London, Ohio at about 6:45 pm Saturday. The driver, 45-year-old Barbara J. Robinson from Delaware, admitted to using cocaine when she was pulled over along the highway.

Robinson then led troopers on a chase out of Madison County, reaching speeds upward of 115 mph.

Other patrol posts and units from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Division of Police and Westerville Police assisted troopers in chasing the vehicle as it traveled from I-70 to I-670 and onto I-270.

The vehicle finally crashed on I-270 near Dempsey Road after striking two other vehicles. The highway was closed as investigators worked at the scene. Several lanes are still closed.

Robinson was the only person reported injured in the crash. She was taken to Grant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Once she is released, Cooper said she is expected to be charged with fleeing and operating a vehicle impaired.
