Columbus (WCMH) – We turn the page on the calendar on a new month, things are looking better here in Central Ohio.
Remember all Summer how we have been tracking the drought monitor, and hoping for rain. In fact we had parts of the state a few weeks ago that were considered to be in a “Severe Drought” but that is not the case anymore.
Our nearly 6″ of rainfall last month wiped out a good portion of the drought across the state. Areas to the southeast that had been wet much earlier in the season are now starting to show signs of becoming dry. The northern part of Ohio is considered the driest part of the state, but it is improving quickly as well.
Progress was slow to improve over the last week of August, but you will notice almost half the state now is back to normal. I do expect this upcoming week will not do any favors in helping accelerate the goal to getting back to normal.
