WASHINGTON (WCMH) – Is your child entering the fourth grade this year? Make sure you get your free national park pass.
The Every Kid in a Park program is entering its second year.
By registering on everykidinapark.gov, fourth grade students and their families get a pass for free entry into more than 2,000 federally managed lands and waters nationwide for an entire year.
The passes are valid from September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017. Registration begins on September 1.
After completing an activity on the website, fourth graders will receive a personalized paper pass to print and bring with them to visit the public lands. The paper pass can be exchanged for a plastic pass at some locations.
The Every Kid in a Park pass admits the fourth grader and any accompanying passengers in a private, non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas, or the pass owner and up to three accompanying adults at sites that charge per person.
Every Kid in a Park is a part of an effort by the Obama administration to ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy the nation’s unique outdoor spaces.
Students who were in fourth grade during the last school year still have a couple weeks left to use their passes.
