Family escapes from west Columbus house fire

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Working smoke detectors helped save a family from a large fire in west Columbus.

The fire was first reported shortly before 8:30pm Wednesday on the 2000 block of Pamona Court.


According to firefighters, a man living in the home heard smoke alarms, went to the garage and saw a massive fire. He was able to get his wife and their dog out of the home safely.

Firefighters reported extensive damage to the home and garage. The house next door was also damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
