WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC News) — Efforts to combat Zika’s spread are growing.
Florida is home to the first “home grown” Zika cases in the states, with at least 42 in three counties.
Governor Rick Scott said Friday he’ll travel to Washington the first day Congress gets back from recess, pushing them to approve money to help fight the virus.
“We’re at the tip of the spear. This is an issue that our whole country is gonna deal with,” Scott said.
Some places are already preparing.
In Baltimore, Johns Hopkins Medicine is opening a comprehensive Zika center where patients can get any kind of Zika-related treatment and support they need.
Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration said on Friday all blood donations across the country should be tested for Zika.What others are clicking on:
