WEST JEFFERSON, OH (WCMH) – The eastbound lanes of U.S. 40 are closed near West Jefferson due to a fire at a scrap yard.
According to the Madison Press, the fire started around 2pm at A.J.’s Auto Parts at 4759 U.S. Route 40.
The fire was initially reported as a car fire inside the shop. The building was later reported as fully engulfed.
The Madison press reported that an employee told them that there was an electric spark as workers were draining a gas tank.
The fire is out and the situation is contained, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the eastbound lane of U.S. 40 is closed while firefighters remain on scene.
