ROSS CO., OH (WCMH)–A former Ross County deputy, recently arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, has tragic ties to a Chillicothe family.

According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Brett McKnight was involved in a crash while off-duty on May 1.
He has since been charged with OVI and failure to control.
Patsy Barrows-Wise is very familiar with McKnight.
In 2013, he was part of a team executing a search warrant in Ross County.
During that operation, McKnight is accused of accidentally firing his weapon and killing Barrows-Wise’s only daughter.
Krystal Barrows was 35.
“Nobody has answers for it,” she said.
A grand jury decided not to indicted McKnight.
Now, Barrows-Wise is watching his new legal battle closely.
“It [the arrest] was such a surprise,” Barrows-Wise said. “I just keep thinking that either the guilt’s getting to him, or that God’s getting him back.”
A federal lawsuit, regarding Barrows’ death, is pending against McKnight and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, a sheriff’s office spokesman said McKnight resigned from his position. What others are clicking on:
