ROSS CO., Ohio (WCMH)–A former Ross County Sheriff’s Office sergeant has resigned several days after being cited with operating a vehicle under the influence.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, former Sgt. Brett McKnight was involved in a crash May 1, on Trego Creek Road.
Deputies say McKnight was off duty at the time and was driving his personal vehicle.
McKnight was charged with OVI and failure to control.
Lt. Mike Preston confirmed McKnight’s resignation on Thursday. Preston said an administrative investigation will not continue.
McKnight had been placed on administrative leave in 2013 after he fired his weapon accidentally during a drug raid and killed a woman.
There is still a pending federal lawsuit against him and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office in that case.What others are clicking on:
