COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)– Franklin County Public Health and Columbus Public Health each confirmed Friday that they have sent another possible case of the Zika virus to a lab for testing.
This makes ten people who are being tested: Five under the city’s jurisdiction, and five under the county’s.
Jose Rodriguez with Columbus Public Health said none of the city’s current cases have been found positive. He is not calling these “suspect cases.”
It takes two to four weeks for test results to come back, said Mitzi Kline with Franklin County Public Health. Rodriguez said he expects city results to return in three to six weeks.
Zika is typically not life-threatening, but it has been linked to severe birth defects when pregnant women get it.
