COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A shooting early Friday morning left one man dead and another injured after a reported altercation resulted in an exchange of gunfire on Interstate 70.

Police say 26-year-old Perry Tuttle Jr. and 25-year-old Dorrell Taylor were passengers in the same vehicle.

Tuttle was was pronounced dead at 4:34 a.m. at Grant Medical Hospital. Taylor was treated and later released.

The shooting was reported shortly after 2:30 this morning. According to police, there was a fight at a location on the east side that went mobile.

Police say two cars were involved. Both cars traveled down the Interstate exchanging gunfire with each other, police said. Officers responding to the report of gunfire found the disabled vehicle sitting against the cable barrier in the median.

The fatal shots were fired along I-70 near the James Road exit. Police say a total of four people were in the car, two were shot.

According to Columbus police, this was not a random incident.

Police are still looking for the second car.

The road was closed for roughly eight hours and reopened around 10:30 a.m.
