COLUMBUS (WCMH) — This weekend is PACKED with ways to have a blast this weekend, without emptying your wallet! And some of the best free events start tonight! Enjoy!

We’re going to rock down to…  Indianola Avenue

You can walk away the work week tonight. The Indianola Stroll offers a chance to get to know the neighborhood, and if you’d like to shop, you can do it locally! This Friday is the first stroll of the season, and it’s the same night as the Indianola Art Crawl. ‘Make that Friday Freebie a double!’

Bike to Work… then Party!

Do you take two wheels to work? Celebrate your commute at the Columbus Commons tonight. The Bike to Work Celebration features a musical performance by American-folk rock band Saintseneca, food and the release of a new Columbus Metro Bike Map!

Time Travel in Dublin… and meet “Back to the Future” actor, Harry Waters Jr.

‘Bridging Time’ gives you the chance to check out the DeLorean and TARDIS, plus meet Harry Waters Jr. from “Back to the Future.” You can also discuss the future of arts and cultural programming in the Dublin area. There’s so much to do on this time traveling adventure… be sure to check out the event page for details about registration and event details!

It’s bound to be a Wilds Weekend

Saturday will be wild! The Wilds is kicking off the 2016 season with Wildzfest! The celebration will include Columbus Zoo animal presentations, a meet-and-greet with Dora the Explorer, education zones and for just $5 you can purchase wristbands to enjoy the ‘KidzZone.’ Vendors will be on-site with options for lunch. You don’t have to pay for admission to The Wilds, but parking for non-members is just $6. The Wildzfest starts at noon.

Let the Games Begin

It’s the third Saturday of the month which means a usually very Quiet Reading Room at the Bexley Public Library will fill with noisy fun for Board Game Day. Enjoy a classic or bring your own! The games begin at 1:00pm.

Hook, Line and Sinker

Take the kids fishing at Schrock Lake Sunday afternoon. Sharon Woods Metro Park is offering free fishing for children 15-years-old and younger from 11 am -1 pm. Limited bait and poles will be provided.

Hike under the Stars

If you’re not afraid of the dark… take your hike to the next level. You can enjoy a FREE one-mile walk through Homestead Metro Park beginning at 8:30pm Saturday night. The event gives you and your family a chance to see creatures that stay out after we usually head to bed.

Safety First

First Responders, Fire and EMS, and MedFlight will join COSI for a day all about educating the local community about what it takes to keep us safe. You’ll get the chance to see CPR demonstrations, get behind the wheel on a distracted driving simulator and, if the weather cooperates, see MedFlight land its helicopter! The event is FREE with your general COSI admission.

Dragon Boat Race

This is such a fun event to watch with your kids! Giant 20-foot canoes will race down the Scioto River during this FREE event on Saturday! A drummer sits facing paddlers and directs the team while a steersman stands at the rear and guides the boat. There will also be two food trucks for lunch! The races run from 9:00am until 4:00 in the afternoon.

Music in the Park

Enjoy a relaxing end to your weekend with a FREE concert in the park. Clintonville continues the ‘North Columbus Civitan Club Park of Roses Concert Series’ with a performance by the Whetstone High School Jazz Ensemble this Sunday in the Gazebo at 7:00pm.

If you’re in the Olde Towne East Neighborhood, enjoy ‘Music in the Garden.’ Bring your own chair or blanket and listen to the musical styling of Jamie Whetstone. The concert will be held at the Oak Street Community Garden at 6:00pm.
