WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH) — As investigators continue to figure out what started a house fire that took the life of 17-year-old Hannah Sarver, her friends are trying to cope with their loss.

“Hannah was a very kind soul,” says Marissa Mowder, Sarver’s neighbor and friend. “I’m numb to it. That’s been my best friend since eighth grade.”

The others inside Sarver’s house on Allview Road in Westerville made it out alive. Two of them jumped from a second-story window. One was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Foul play is not expected in the fire, which firefighters were called to just after 5 a.m. on Friday.

“I can’t even get over it. I thought it was not real for a while,” Emily Voit says. “I can’t believe she’s just not going to come back and be here tomorrow like she always is.”

Voit was one of dozens who gathered at a nearby park and lit candles for Sarver on Friday afternoon.

Neighbors told NBC4 they’re organizing ways to help the family with clothing, food and other household necessities as they cope with Sarver’s death.
