PALM COAST, FL (WCMH) — An alligator in Florida properly followed the law, when it crossed a busy street using a crosswalk, Monday.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the gator began to cross the street at the intersection of Cypress Edge Drive in Palm Coast, at about 9:20am, Monday.

The gator, which was about 5 feet long, took about 30 seconds to cross the road while Deputy Jonathon Duenas stopped traffic to allow it do so safely.

A trapper with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called to collect the alligator, but the animal escaped to a wood lot and its natural habitat before they could arrive.What others are clicking on:
