PITTSBURGH (WCMH)–Giant Eagle announced a voluntary recall Tuesday for products containing fried rice sold in the prepared foods department of Giant Eagle and Market District locations.
The company said the items are part of a national voluntary recall by suppliers Garland Ventures Limited and CRF Frozen Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria) contamination.
The affected product was used as an ingredient in the following items in Giant Eagle and Market District stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana through May 9, 2016 (PLU numbers in parentheses):
Pepper Steak with Fried Rice (86289)
Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice (96799)
Market District Asian Fried Rice (67530)
Pick 5 Asian Rice
Vegetable Rice Kit (87130)
General Tso Chicken Fried Rice (37527)
Fried Rice 1.5 lb. (85917 and 85918)
The affected fried rice was also sold in the hot bar and hot service case in the prepared foods department in Giant Eagle and Market District stores in the same five states. There are no confirmed illnesses to date associated with this recall, the company said.
