COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One of Chicago’s best known deep dish pizza joints is coming to Columbus.

Giordano’s confirms to NBC4 that it will be opening its first location in the Buckeye state next year. The new location will be in the Polaris Parkway area with a grand opening day of early 2017.

Giordano’s is known for its stuffed, deep-dish pizza that takes 45 minutes to bake. It was once named “Chicago’s Best Pizza” by NBC, CBS Chicago, Home & Garden Magazine and the New York Times.READ MORE: Best pizza in Central Ohio

The company now has 52 locations nationwide, with locations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Michigan. In addition to Ohio, it is also planning to open new locations in Arizona and Las Vegas.

Giordano’s will be just the latest of some 3,800 pizza restaurants that already operate throughout Ohio. More than half of those restaurants are independent operators that have less than 10 locations, PMG Pizza Magazine reports.

Further details about the new location in Columbus were not available, but Giordano’s says it is excited to bring its deep dish pizza to hungry folks in central Ohio.
