MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WCMH) – Myrtle Beach’s own “Giraffe Mom”  actually gave birth before internet sensation April the Giraffe.

According to a Facebook post, local mother Erin Dietrich and her husband Scott announced the birth of their son Porter Lane at 6:11pm Wednesday night.

“He’s here!! He is perfect, healthy and just beautiful,” Dietrich said. “Our hearts are overflowing. Thank you so much for ALL the love and prayers.”

The mother of three then beat April the giraffe to the punch by giving birth to the 8-pound, 2-ounce boy.

The birth was foreshadowed when Dietrich posted a Facebook Live video of herself Saturday walking around a bedroom wearing a giraffe mask and showing of her pregnant belly. The video mocks the ongoing YouTube livestream of a pregnant giraffe named April at Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York. Millions of people have watched the stream over more than two weeks awaiting the birth of April’s fourth calf.

Wednesday at 12:15pm, Dietrich shared another live feed still wearing the giraffe mask, but this time situated in a hospital bed.The Associated Press contributed to this report.
