SANTA CRUZ (KRON) – A fisherman got quite the surprise when a great white shark attacked his boat while he was fishing off the coast of Santa Cruz.
Mark Davis was out fishing for squid bait last Friday when a great white shark as big as his 15-foot-long fishing boat began to ram into the side of his vessel.
Davis said the shark circled the boat for a while and even lifted it four feet into the air at one point.
The shark eventually left and Davis went back to shore.
After examining his vessel, he noticed large teeth marks and even found a shark tooth that was lodged into the side of his boat.
A Marine Biology expert was able to confirm to Davis that the shark was 15 feet long and said it was probably looking for food.
Davis believes the shark thought his boat was a sea lion.
The experience didn’t scare him too much, he is already back out fishing again.
