GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — Sheriff Jeff Paden in Guernsey County says his office has resolved a reported attempted abduction Thursday morning.
Paden said on Facebook that the man in question called the sheriff’s office and said he believed he was the individual responsible for the scare.
Four children had reported that a man approached them Thursday morning in the driveway and told them to get into his car.
The home was near Holmes and Shaw Roads. The children say they ran home and adults tried to stop the man before he sped away.
The man reportedly said he was taking his grandson to the bus stop after the boy had overslept. He told the sheriff’s office he was unfamiliar with the area, so he was driving slowly. He said that is when he came in contact with the children in the driveway, but his grandson told him that was not the right bus stop, so he kept driving.
Paden said there were no words exchanged between the man and the children. After an investigation, he said he believes the man did not intend to entice the children into his vehicle.
