NEW YORK (WCMH) — Hershey’s is known for its chocolate. Soon, it’s hoping to also be known for its meat bars.
In 2015, the company bought a beef jerky line. Now, it’s getting ready to launch a number of Krave protein bars, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The bars are made up of a combination of dried meats mixed with other ingredients like mangos and cranberries. Some of the initial flavors include a blueberry barbecue pork bar and lemon garlic turkey jerky.
“We aren’t going out there saying it is a meat bar. We’re saying it is a Krave bar,” said Rusti Porter, vice president of marketing for Hershey’s Krave. “It’s not just beef jerky in a bar in your mouth.”
Hershey’s says the meat snacks are high in protein and low in sugar and calories.
“It is all natural, has no preservatives, and features additional ingredients like fruit and ancient grains, like quinoa,” Shane Chambers, the GM of Krave Pure Foods, told Food Business News.
The Krave protein bars are expected to hit store shelves in August. What others are clicking on:
