GURNEE, IL (WCMH) – An Illinois man had a very happy birthday indeed, after he won $2 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket.

“I’m going to pay my bills, make wise investments, and maybe take a vacation,” David Martinez, 60, said after winning, according to the Illinois Lottery.

Martinez bought the $20 scratch off ticket from a Citgo station in Gurnee, according to NBC Chicago.

Martinez chose to take his prize in multiple payments instead of a lump sum, the lottery said. He will get $100,000 a year for the next 20 years.

According to WLS-TV, Martinez cashed in the ticket on his 60th birthday.

He says he plans to continue working as a custodian at the school where he has worked for the last 34 years.
