SAN JOSE, CA (KRON) – A high school teacher at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student, according to Superintendent Chris D. Funk.
Trudy Hill, 32, has been arrested and booked on felony charges of sexual assault with a minor and oral copulation. She has been placed on leave from her job, Funk said.
Hill is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student. She allegedly used her position to exploit the student into a sexual relationship, according to San Jose police.
“We are shocked and deeply disturbed by these allegations. We want to assure the community that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority,” Funk wrote.
Hill surrendered to police on Thursday where she posted bail and was released.
“According to the charges and the information available, the teacher was allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a minor student. The District has been assisting and cooperating with the San Jose Police Department in its investigation in this matter,” Funk wrote.
The district is supporting the student and his family, Funk said.
