High Street in reopens after suspicious briefcase causes bomb scare

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A portion of North High Street is closed in the Clintonville neighborhood due to a potential bomb threat.

Officers were sent to the 2300 block of North High Street shortly before 12:30am after someone reported seeing a suspicious person with a briefcase. That briefcase was later seen lying on the ground outside of O’Reilly’s Pub.


According to Columbus police, the situation was treated as a bomb threat. The Columbus Bomb Squad did a controlled detonation on the briefcase just before 1am. The contents of the briefcase were not immediately made clear.

North High Street was closed between Kelso Avenue and Arcadia Avenue while police and the bomb squad investigated. The road reopened around 1:10am.
