COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Damage and power outages have been reported already as severe storms move through central Ohio.
State Route 31 is closed in Union County between Richwood Miller Road and Turner Road due to a tree down on the road. NBC4 has a crew on the way to that scene.
More than 5,000 customers in Franklin County and nearly 900 customers in Licking County are without power, according to AEP Ohio.
Strong wind possibly caused by a tornado damaged several homes near Washington Court House.
Delaware police report high water around Central Avenue and Franklin Street in Delaware. Police say storm drains are struggling to keep up.
In Delaware County, State Route 315 was closed north of Orange Road due to high water. U.S. 36 and State Route 37 are closed near the Kroger distribution center east of Delaware due to flooding.
Westerville police report high water in the area of Schrock Road and State Street.
On Ohio State’s campus, Cannon Drive is closed between Ohio Stadium and John Herrick due to flooding. Flooding was also reported on John Herrick as well as te area of 15th and High.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports two trees down on U.S. 62 south of Stahl Road, near I-71. The damage appears to have been cleaned up by 4:30am. Traffic is moving freely on U.S. 62.
