Hilliard chase reaches speeds of 115mph

HILLIARD, OH (WCMH) – A pursuit of a theft suspect went from Hilliard to Columbus two times before it was called off Tuesday morning.

According to Hilliard police, it started around 5:20am when police attempted to pull over a theft suspect driving a blue Honda Odyssey.


Police said that suspect led police on a chase that went from I-270 to eastbound I-70 on the west side of Columbus, then south on 71, back to 270, back to eastbound I-70 in west Columbus, back into downtown Columbus and onto I-71.

The chase was called off after going onto I-71 the second time.

According to police, speeds of up to 115mph were reached before the pursuit was called off due to safety concerns.

Chopper 4 last saw the suspect’s vehicle in the area of South 22nd Street and East Whittier Street.
