The Fairfield County Prosecutor has the case involving the hit and run driver who killed a Belmont County woman eight months ago.

Gregg Marx said his office is working closely with the Pickerington Police Department and met with two of their detectives on Thursday.

“This case is very complex and we want to make certain that the proper charges are filed,” Marx said. He said authorities do not believe the suspect is a flight risk. We have been contacted by the 24-year-old woman’s attorney and will schedule a meeting with him soon, therefore no charges are likely to be filed at this time,” Marx said.

Gayle Jackowski was riding on the back of a motorcycle driver by her husband Carl on July 16, 2014, when they were run off Interstate 70 at the State route 256 exit.

Carl told NBC4 his wife died in his arms. The suspect told investigators she panicked and fled because her three children were unrestrained in her 2004 Chevy Malibu. She also admitted she and her brother were chopping the vehicle to be sold for scrap.
